'True Detective' Season Finale Spoilers, Start Time: Matthew McConaughey to Return in Season 2?

With the finale of the first season of breakout HBO hit "True Detective" set to air next Sunday, fans are eager to know what will happen in the finale, and what's in store for season two.  Another burning question is whether or not McConaughey will be returning for the second season. Matthew McConaughey won an Oscar for Best Actor for his work in "Dallas Buyer's Club" last night. Many are wondering if the celebrated actor will be returning to his current television role for the second season of "True Detective." According to E! Online, Matthew McConaughey will not be returning to "True Detective" for the next season, much to the disappointment of fans.

This comes as a surprise to fans because McConaughey previously spoke about enjoying working in television. At the Winter TCA Press Tour he spoke about why he wanted to work in TV.

"It's a different time in television. It's not there's not that feeling of if you're having a successful film career and somebody brings up something on television we didn't know, at the time when I got it, where it was going to be.  All I knew is I read the first two episodes, and I was in. And I was just, at the time, looking for quality," the actor said.

The season one finale of "True Detective" airs on HBO at 9 p.m. Sunday.
