'Destiny' PC Version Release Date: Bungie Faces Tough Transition from PS4, Xbox One, PS3, Xbox 360
A result of a collaboration between Bungie (the creators of 'Halo'), and Activision (publishers of the 'Call of Duty' game franchise), 'Destiny' became one of the fastest selling games of all time, reportedly selling more than $500 million within 24 hours of its release.
Now there's word going around that the developer and the publisher are looking into releasing a PC port of the game.
Although many gamers have already experienced 'Destiny' and its gameplay on their consoles, PC gamers all over the world are still hoping for the port. Since the game is only available for PlayStation 4, PS3, Xbox One, and Xbox 360, Windows based gamers are wondering how a PC version will turn out.
Evidently, switching an FPS game from controller to mouse control is a major change. Apparently, there's a lot on Bungie and Activision's plate in regards to the transition.
However, the good news is that the game creators are actually interested in making a PC version of the hit video game.
Last summer, Activision CEO Erik Hirshberg talked about a 'Destiny' PC port.
"It is [a good fit], and it's something we're talking about and looking at very carefully, and obviously it makes a lot of sense with the genre and the type of game it is," Hirshberg told Polygon.
Hirshberg pointed out, however, that he is not announcing anything officially, since making developing the game for PC is different from developing the game for consoles.
"You know, developing on PC is a different animal than developing for consoles and so we just want to make sure that we're putting one foot in front of the other and getting it right, and that it's of the highest possible quality. But obviously I see the same things about the natural fit," Hirshberg added.
In addition to this, Eric Osborne, the game's writer, mentioned that the creators of the game are still in the process of discussing the platform shift.
"We have a lot of people who play on PCs. We have a lot of appetite to build that experience," Osborne said during E3.
"We haven't announced it yet, but we're looking forward to talking more about that kind of stuff in the future," he added.
Osborne also reportedly said that as of this moment, the team is limiting the platforms they take on to avoid compromising the core experience of the title.
Perhaps fans of 'Destiny' fans will have to wait a little longer for the PC version of the game, but at least the creators have been talking about it.
