Dennis Rodman Plans to Return to North Korea for an Exhibition Basketball Game

Dennis Rodman is planning to return to North Korea, but this time he is going for basketball instead of politics. Last time the former NBA star was in the country, he befriended the 29 year old leader of North Korea, Kim Jong Un. Rodman claims that he will travel to the Asian country with several of his NBA friends and they will play an exhibition basketball game for the amusement of Kim Jong Un.

Rodman said, "I have seven people right now. I talked to a couple of guys last week. Lots of guys are saying, 'OK, great. I'll go.' But I'm not saying this to get people to go over there to prove a point. Let's go over there because this is a great opportunity for everyone to see a different culture."

Many critics think that it is inappropriate for Rodman to befriend the leader of North Korea. Kim Jong Un has a spotty human-rights record and also funds a secretive nuclear weapons program. He has been accused of holding citizens captive in concentration camps similar to what was found in Nazi Germany.

Rodman defended himself against these allegations. He said, "Like I told you, this is not all about trying to create this major buzz. Because I don't want my friend (Un) to sit there and say I been doing this all along to slip in some information on him. I don't want that. That's why I'm not doing that. We're friends and that's it."
