Demarius Reed Found Dead. Eastern Michigan University Football Wide Receiver Killed in Michigan Apartment. Demarius Reed Homicide.
Eastern Michigan University's wide-receiver, Demarius Reed, was found shot multiple times in the hallway of his apartment in Michigan on Friday.The police believe that it was a armed robbery that left Demarius dead, since there were multiple things taken from his home. Demarius Reed was brought to Eastern Michigan University from a rough neighborhood back in Chicago where he went to wide receiver for the Eagles, and caught 44 passes for 474 yards and four touchdowns in his brief football career. Demarius Grandfather stated Friday, ""He was an outgoing, beautiful kid. He wasn't associated with no gang or anything," Joe L. Reed said. "I would say, 'Hey man. Don't go outside.' I wouldn't let him associate with anybody over there.".
According to Police, the junior was found around 7:15 in the morning in the hallway of his off-campus apartment at the 700-block of West Clark rd. The Ypsilanti police told the Ann Harbor News that Demarius was found in the hallway by his roomates, and a homicide investigation is currently in place. Reed was apprently shot multiple times and it was evident that things were taken from the Junior at Eastern Michigan University. Heather Lyke, Eastern Michigan's athletic director, stated, "Demarius was an influential leader who thrived in the classroom and on the field. Everyone gravitated to him and often described him as the 'life of the locker room.'". The team will still go on to play their game today against Ohio State University. In remembrance of their fallen team member, Eastern Michigan University football team came together Friday night and hung Reed's jersey on a fence as they all prayed together.
