Darlene Zschech Cancer Update: ‘Keeping my Mind Focused on All God Says, is Becoming a Little Fragile at Times’ She States As She Enters Round Three of Chemo (PHOTO)
Last month, former Hillsong worshipper Darlene Zschech wrote her fans with news that she started to lose her hair as she began chemo treatments. In a new blog posted the beginning of March, Zschech updates fans again while undergoing her third round of chemotherapy proclaiming that she is keeping her "MIND focused" on God's word.
Zschech announced on her blog in December that she was diagnosed with breast cancer after attending a routine mammogram. Fans immediately showered the Popular worship leader with words of encouragement and prayer.
In her latest blog Zschech rejoices in the fact that she is almost through with treatments.
"Praise God I have reached my halfway point. " she wrote. Adding, "This entire journey has truly been a mind game. Keeping my MIND focused on all God says, instead of how I am feeling, which is becoming a little fragile at times."
The Psalmist said she has a book of promises that she has been writing in. "In this book are my list of scriptures that I absorb like a daily tonic. It is in this space that I find rest."
She goes on to list a few scriptures that help her through her emotional time.
Here are a few that she listed:
"Psalm 91:15-16 - He shall call upon Me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him and honor him. With long life I will satisfy him and show him My salvation."
"2 Timothy 1:7 - For God has not given me a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind."
"Romans 8:37 - Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us."
She notes that she has been receiving a load of letters and messages to help encourage her as well.
"I cannot begin to express how this fuels my soul for the days ahead. I would like to say a HUGE Thank You to my friends around the planet and at home who are SO DAILY in and on this journey with me," she said.
The successful songwriter is remaining hopeful and says that God has been with her every step of the way and His word has really been a lamp unto her feet. "Again and again, God's word trumps our adversities. It's His nature to heal and to rescue. Never forget that. It's all based on His great love for us - not on anything we have done."
The Australian native has stated in previous blogs that writing has been a great comfort to her during this season. She plans to release songs birthed from this trying experience.
Zschech ends her blog with the triumphant phrase, "Greater things are yet to come."
Along with a photo the singer took to her Facebook page Thursday morning to post a message of one of her nurses, as she mentally prepared herself for another day of treatment.
"This is one of my great nurses and her name is Mary. She is all rugged up to put chemo into my body....Mmmmmm. Oh well, first bag is red so I'm picturing it as Jesus' Blood running through my veins... xx #peaceismyportion," she wrote.
Many have labeled Zschech as a "pioneer of the modern worship movement." Her biggest song to date is, "Shout to the Lord" as it has become one of the most famous modern worship songs of all time being sung by an estimated 25-30 million churchgoers since the song's release. Along with her husband they currently senior pastors of Hope Unlimited Church.
