Darlene Zschech Cancer Update: ‘All I Can Say is, Grace, Grace and More Grace' She Declares After Losing Her Hair During Round One Of Chemo
Popular worship leader Darlene Zschech updates fans on her condition while coming to an end of round one of chemotherapy.
The former Hillsong worshipper says she has started to lose her hair as she begins chemo treatments but she hasn't lost her desire to worship. Zschech, announced on her blog in December that she was diagnosed with breast cancer after attending a routine mammogram.
"All I can say is, 'grace, grace and more grace'," she shared on her blog update. "I am learning to rest in every promise from Jesus. In fact, it's His Word that is giving me the strength to inhale and exhale, moment by moment."
The Psalmist said she made a new friend while undergoing treatment who is a week ahead of her in the process. She goes on to say her friend describes Chemo treatments to a popular quote from the movie Forest Gump. "'Chemo is like a box of chocolates, you never quite know what you are going to get! '. I have come to understand that this is the truth, indeed," Zschech wrote.
She candidly shares that the loss of her hair has been difficult for her. "To be completely honest, this has been very confronting. It definitely makes me look sicker than I feel. In saying that, I am finding great freedom through this. Mark [her husband] keeps reminding me how much money we'll save over the next while on hairdressers!" Zschech said.
The successful songwriter is remaining hopeful and says that God has been with her every step of the way. "With the occasional ambulance trip all of this, thus far, has been a quite a ride on an emotional roller! I can say that through it all, I am assured of God's love for me," she adds.
The Australian native goes on to say that writing has been a great comfort to her during this season. She said she plans to release songs birthed from this trying experience.
"I have songs and thoughts that I will share with when I am on the other side of this mountain," she shared. "In fact, we are already planning a Thanksgiving service at our church in November, where we will record songs birthed during this season."
"We simply want to fill the place with praise for all that God has done," Zschech wrote.
Many have labeled Zschech as a "pioneer of the modern worship movement." Her biggest song to date is, "Shout to the Lord" as it has become one of the most famous modern worship songs of all time being sung by an estimated 25-30 million churchgoers since the song's release. Along with her husband they currently senior pastors of Hope Unlimited Church.
