'Daredevil' Season 3 Release Date, News: Next Season Gives Way To 'The Defenders?'

While many fans are still raving about the series, it seems that "Daredevil" may no longer be renewed for another season. In fact, even actor Charlie Cox, the star of "Daredevil" seasons 1 and 2, does not think that there is any point for a renewal.

Asked about "Daredevil" season 3, the actor said, "We don't know if there is going to be a season three. I certainly don't know."

Rumors about the non-renewal of the series come from reports that showrunners Doug Petrie and Marco Ramirez have both signed on to produce and direct the next Marvel-Netflix counterpart of the MCU Avengers, titled "The Defenders."

At a Netflix event held in Paris recently, Petrie and Ramirez revealed that the production of "The Defenders" will start later this year.

This was further confirmed by Marvel TV head Jeph Loeb, who said, "We're incredibly excited to be able to bring out four street-level heroes together in an epic tale woven by Doug and Marco, whose work on Marvel's 'Daredevil' speaks for itself."

According to rumors, a big part of "The Defenders" will be shaped by the events from "Captain America: Civil War."

"Daredevil" starred Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock, a skilled vigilante who takes down criminals through the use of his strong senses.

While fans are happy about the announcement that "The Defenders" is going to be epic, many are still hoping that a "Daredevil" season 3 will make sense of all the subplots that were laid down by season 2 but never really came to a resolution.
