'Daredevil' Season 2 Cast News: Marvel Wants Jason Statham to Portray Villain Bullseye
Latest rumors suggest that Jason Statham, the British actor popular for his roles in the 'Fast and Furious' franchise, will be portraying the character of Bullseye in 'Daredevil' Season 2. Latino Review claimed that a source in Marvel TV revealed to them that Marvel itself is keen that Statham to portray the character of Bullseye in the upcoming season.
Meanwhile, Latin Post notes that as of now nothing is final. However, eyewitnesses claimed that they say Statham meeting Marvel executives giving more wind to the rumors.
A web-based Marvel series, 'Daredevil' is created by Drew Goddard and the first season comprised just 13 episodes. The series made its debut on Netflix in April 10 of this year. Nevertheless, Marvel had approved as well as announced the second season of the series days before the scheduled online streaming of the first season. Talking exclusively to SciFiNow, showrunner Steven DeKnight discussed about what the audience can expect from the second season, which is scheduled to premiere in 2016.
DeKnight told the publication, "Looking forward, there are so many stories to tell, like 'The Hand,' 'Elektra,' 'Bullseye' ... with a 13-episode arc you don't have to rush it; you can explore. That's not to say we are going to do 'Bullseye' and 'Elektra,' but it's on the radar."
In Marvel, the character that will supposedly be portrayed by Statham has been described as, a "mercenary of mystery, nothing is really known about the man called Bullseye." Nevertheless, it also noted that Bullseye was actually able to reveal of his self when he was kept in captivity in a high-level security U.S. prison. During this period, Bullseye revealed some dark memories of a troubled youth and afterwards it was learned that he grew up with an abusive father, whom he loathed very much. In fact, he painted a bulls-eye figure on the forehead of his drunken father when the latter was sleeping and then shot him.
It would really be interesting to see if Statham will be a great Bullseye, provided he agrees to do the role. In an interview with LA Times in 2008, he admitted that he is a fan of Daredevil himself. Nevertheless, in a recent video interview with an Italian website i400Calci.com, Statham is seen criticizing Marvel Comic films.
