Daft Punk Tour 2013: No Dates Confirmed, New Album "Random Access Memories" Fastest Selling Album of 2013

Daft Punk tour 2013 update!

Ok that was a bit misleading. Though Daft Punk [Thomas Bangalter and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo] not only released the most anticipated, but fastest selling album of 2013 [thus far], the French duo has not confirmed any 2013 tour dates to promote the new songs off of Random Access Memories.

Based on the 339,000 copies of Random Access Memories sold in its first week, Daft Punk obviously doesn't need a tour in 2013 to generate hype. But there's obviously demand to see the bands new and old catalog live, in person.

Maybe Daft Punk doesn't want to get sucked into playing their oldies like "One More Time" or "Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger" instead opting for their new, "human" sound. The less "robotic" treatment is working better than the duo could've expected. According to Billboard, Random Access Memories is Daft Punk's first number one record. It's also the first electronic album to go number one since Madonna's MDNA.

Daft Punk had a lot of help from friends and collaborators on the new album. The album took five years, recording in studios in different countries: London, New York, Paris. Daft Punk recruited incredible session players like drummer Omar Hakim, bassist Nathan East and legendary funk guitarist Nile Rodgers. Pharell Williams sings on the first single, "Get Lucky". Random also includes guest vocals from The Strokes frontman Julian Casablancas and Animal Collective's Panda Bear.
