Daft Punk, Nile Rodgers to Collaborate on "Lost" Chic Tracks
Daft Punk is going at it again and they'll probably "get lucky." Too soon?
It looks like the electronic duo out of Paris is teaming up with funk guitar legend Nile Rodgers again to work together on an unreleased Chic song. Rodgers collaborated on Daft Punk's most recent studio album Random Access Memories which has broke Spotify records, selling a million copies of the first single "Get Lucky" in only 10 weeks.
Nile Rodgers and Bernard Edwards created Chic back in 1976. Hits like "Le Freak and "Good Times" defined the band's R&B/disco-infused sound.
After scanning old Chic tapes at Warner Music, Rodgers found a plethora of unreleased Chic material; anything from film scores to solo tunes.
"The absolute coolest thing is that I finally retrieved some music that I thought was lost, when I was getting my first solo record deal. Obviously, I had a lot of my Chic bandmates play on some songs that I was working on. So, I basically call it "the lost Chic album", even though it's really a Nile Rodgers record."
Rodgers must really respect Daft Punk if he's willing to include them on such precious material from his old band.
"Daft Punk wants to do at least one of them with me, so that should be very cool," said Rodgers. "Because they respect the music. They understand."
Daft Punk has remained busy over the last year releasing Random Access Memories and collaborating with Kanye West on his recent album Yeezus.
