Daft Punk New Single "Get Lucky" Holds Strong at #1 on Charts, New Album 2013
Daft Punk's first single "Get Lucky" featuring Pharell Williams and Nile Rodgers has held strong at #1 on the U.K. charts this week.
"Get Lucky" has already set records on Spotify, the first single from the French duo in eight years, had the biggest first day of streams on Spotify globally since the service began. The song has been doing great on itunes as well close to the top of the charts in several countries
Daft Punk's new album Random Access Memories is set to release on May 21st.
Fans can expect to hear a different side of Daft Punk as they step away from trendy computerized sounds of past albums in favor of a more unique sound.
"Electronic music is in its comfort zone its not moving one inch" Bangalter is quoted as saying, so as they leave their electronic origins behind, fans will hear a new funkier Daft Punk with a live element.
Daft Punk will be streaming videos and their new record on May 17 in Wee Waa, Australia, but have no confirmed live performance tour dates at this point. Rumors are though that when they do eventually tour for this record there will be many special guests involved.
"Get Lucky" features Pharrell Williams and Nile Rodgers, with fans first taste of the new song coming in a surprise video to music fans in attendance at Coachella festival in California. A clip of the "Get Lucky" music video played before the Yeah, Yeah, Yeahs set and had the crowd buzzing. Then, another promo video for their new record Random Access Memories showed up during the next SNL (Saturday Night Live) airing on NBC.
