Daft Punk New Album, Tour 2013: Random Access Memories, Band Not Appearing At Wee Waa Album Launch Playback Party Show?
Daft Punk is back on top with their latest single, "Get Lucky" offtheir upcoming album Random Access Memories. "Get Lucky"beat out Imagine Dragons and Justin Timberlake as the topstreamed track on Spotify.
Daft Punk's first album in eight years, Random Access Memoriesfeatures contributions from Nile Rodgers, Giorgio Moroder, houseproducer Todd Edwards, Animal Collective's Panda Bear, andguest vocals from Pharell Williams and Julian Casablancas.
There unfortunately hasn't been a ton of information about anypossible 2013 tour featuring Daft Punk. Pharrell Williams recentlyperformed "Get Lucky" at a Brooklyn show, which you can watchbelow. Daft Punk did announce they would be kicking off theirglobal launch party in the small town of Wee Waa, Australia onMay 17. Many assumed the duo would be performing live, but itnow seems it will simply be a online streaming party. Daft Punkwill apparently be playing music from videos and streaming it forthe entire world rather than performing live on stage.
As Take 40 says, Daft Punk will not actually be in attendance. Theshow is being promoted as a "album launch playback party." Therehave been many mentions about a Daft Punk 2013 world tour, butas far as I can tell, the band has no immediate plans to be touring.
Instead it sounds like Wee Waa will just play host to the release ofthe entire album via online stream, then maybe the duo will showup for some surprise appearances here and there. Or maybe theywon't. At this point, it doesn't seem like Daft Punk has to do anyshows, there new single is doing that well already.
