Daft Punk New Album, Tour 2013: "Get Lucky" Goes #1 in U.K. / No Daft Punk Tour Dates Announced, Not Performing in Wee Waa [VIDEO]

Daft Punk fans are well aware their new album, Random Access Memories is set for a May 21, 2013 release date. The French duo's lead single, "Get Lucky" teams up with producer Pharell Williams and Funk legend Nile Rodgers. Fans have loved the song enough to make it Daft Punk's first U.K #1 single, after a twenty-year career, and the fastest selling single of 2013, according to the Official Charts Company.

Daft Punk's "Get Lucky" beat newcomer Ella Eyre's "Waiting All Night." Daft Punk's new single tops a list with Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, Passenger and Ellie Goulding.

No tour dates to promote Random Access Memories have been announced. Contrary to previous reports Daft Punk will not be attending their global album launch party in Wee Waa, New Zealand on May 17. The venue will simply act as a live streaming event.

"Get Lucky" was first debuted at Coachella in California immediately before the Yeah Yeah Yeah's took the stage. Daft Punk have also been promoting the single via teasers on "Saturday Night Live." Apparently the marketing campaign worked.

Apparently fans are really responding to the more "human" approach to Random Access Memories. Instead of "trendy" computer influences, Daft Punk's new album opts for a more West Coast disco sound [a la Prince meets Fleetwood Mac].

Along with contributions from Pharell and Rodgers, Random Access Memories features guest production from Animal Collective's Panda Bear, and The Strokes front man Julian Casablancas.
