Daft Punk 2013 World Tour: Starts May 17 in Wee Waa, Australia, Promoting New Album 'Random Access Memories'
Been waiting to hear Daft Punk's new album or better yet, see them live in concert? Well the wait is almost over.
The electronic dance duo is now releasing information and select dates for Daft Punk's 2013 tour. The duo have selected Wee Waa, Australia as the location to kick off their world tour. Mayor of Wee Waa, Conrad Bolton, told The Courier that he thought Sony Music was pulling his leg when they inquired about Daft Punk performing in the tiny town. Well, apparently they aren't, as Daft Punk will perform at the Wee Waa Showground on the night of May 17 in an event that will also be streamed online to an international audience.
There are only 4,000 tickets available to the kick off show in Wee Waa with members of the "Wee Waa Society" having guaranteed first chance at tickets.
They will be touring in support of their new album Random Access Memories. This is Daft Punk's first album in eight years and not a lot has been leaked about the record but finally fans have some new official information to be excited about.
Wee Waa Society president Brett Dickinson is understandably excited about the news. "It's great for Wee Waa and fantastic for the shire, the flow on effect from this will be fantastic, especially for all businesses in the area," Dickinson told The Courier. "We thought getting senator Fiona Nash to open the show was a bit of a coup, but now our show program has been bolstered 10-fold."
Daft Punk 2013 tour will keep releasing new dates and new cities, but with the first show confirmed, fans can know that others are to follow.
Daft Punk's new album, Random Access Memories will be released May 12 on Columbia Records.
