Daft Punk 2013 Tour [UPDATE] First Stop in Wee Waa, Australia, Promoting New Album, "Random Access Memories"

French electronic dance duo, Daft Punk, has finally let fans in on some new information regarding their 2013 tour. Promoting their new album, Random Access Memories, Daft Punk chose the tiny town of Wee Waa, Australia as the location for to launch the tour. The May 17 show will also serve as a "global album launch party" for the duo's first record in eight years.

Though the town of Wee Waa is obviously stoked to be Daft Punk's first gig of their 2013 tour, city officials were initially in disbelief. Wee Waa Mayor Conrad Bolton thought it was a joke at first.  He told The Courier he thought Sony Music was mistaken.

No joke Mr. Mayor! Daft Punk will in fact be performing at the Wee Waa Showground May 17th. The show will also be stream online as part of the album launch party.

Only 4,000 tickets are available and members of the Wee Waa Society are guaranteed a spot. Tickets go on sale Friday for the general public.

Wee Waa Society president Brett Dickinson is eager to see the city on the international stage.

"It's great for Wee Waa and fantastic for the shire, the flow on effect from this will be fantastic, especially for all businesses in the area," Dickinson told The Courier. "We thought getting senator Fiona Nash to open the show was a bit of a coup, but now our show program has been bolstered 10-fold."

Though the rest of Daft Punk's 2013 tour dates have yet to be confirmed, Random Access Memories will be available May 12 on Columbia Records.
