Daft Punk 2013 Tour: New Album, 'Random Access Memories' Global Launch Around the World From Wee Waa, Australia
Daft Punk is scheduled to launch their new album Random Access Memories at a rustic agricultural fair in the tiny town of Wee Waa, Australia. The May 17 show will also serve as a "global album launch party."
Daft Punk's first album in eight years, Random Access Memories features contributions from Nile Rodgers, Giorgio Moroder, house producer Todd Edwards and many more. The French electronic duo has been posting videos to introduce the team of producers involved.
"Two androids are bringing soul back to music," Edwards said in a video posted this week. Edwards later said Random Access Memories captures the American "west coast vibe" citing comparing the new album to bands like Fleetwood Mac, the Eagles and the Doobie Brothers.
"They reversed gears and went back to a time that no one's really focusing on," Edwards said. "Younger producers are going to be blown away."
Wee Waa Society president Brett Dickinson is eager to see the city on the international stage.
"It's great for Wee Waa and fantastic for the shire, the flow on effect from this will be fantastic, especially for all businesses in the area," Dickinson told The Courier. "We thought getting senator Fiona Nash to open the show was a bit of a coup, but now our show program has been bolstered 10-fold."
Daft Punk's Random Access Memories is scheduled for a May 12 release via Columbia Records.
