Criminal Minds Season 10 Release Date, Plot Rumors: Will Cast Survive Season 9 Finale Episode? (Preview Trailer)

When "Criminal Minds" Season 9 Finale airs on May 14, viewers will wonder what will happen to fan favorites in the next season.

The Behavioral Analysis Unit crew is being hunted down by a rogue cop, who is part of a much larger conspiracy involving the mass murders of women of ill repute in tonight's episode. According to the latest video trailer, unfortunately one of the characters from the hit series will be killed off trying to stop the madman.

According to a press release revealed by CBS, in the Season Finale episode titled "Demons," Behavioral Analysis Unit technical specialist Penelope Garcia (played by actress Kirsten Vangsness) may not survive when the last episode of the season airing tonight.

Garcia will try to save her co-worker from impeding danger from a murdering spree targeting prostitutes in Texas. However, when she realizes the motives behind the serial killings, her life is also in jeopardy.  In the upcoming episode, Derek Morgan (played by Shemar Moore) will be shot in his bulletproof vest in a shootout while Dr. Spencer Reid (Matthew Gray Gubler) will be shot in the neck and he may be shot again if Garcia does not stop the killer from finishing the job at the hospital.

"Garcia will do something we've never seen her do in the field before," said Executive Producer Erica Messer to TV Guide.

Tonight's episode is the second part of last week's "Angels" episode, where crew first discovered that prostitutes are being murdered in their city.

"Things aren't as they seem in this small town. There's a bigger conspiracy at play and they don't know what that is at first," said Messer. "They're aware somebody is framing The Preacher for this crime. Our path at the end of [Episode] 23 lets us know that The Preacher isn't behind it, so in 24 it's, 'Well, who is it?' There's a big cover-up. There's a constant threat to our team because what they will uncover is a pretty big deal and their lives are in serious jeopardy."

Messer warns viewers the long running series will never be the same after tonight's episode.

"It's not a cliff-hanger in that traditional sense," said Messer. "I would say the biggest cliff-hanger is the end of 23 into the finale. This year, it felt like, we don't have something in Rossi's backyard, but after this journey they've been on these two episodes, we need to watch them breathe and know that they're going to get a lot of rest. That's how we decided to end it."
