The Counselor Movie Review and Synopsis: Javier Bardem Returns as Another Cormac McCarthy Character / Is it His Best Role Yet? [TRAILER]

The best thing The Counselor has going for it has got to be the awesome all-star cast lead by Michael Fassbender and Javier Bardem. If you haven't seen the preview yet, it features Javier Bardem in a ridiculous get up that makes him look crazier than he already looks in most of his movies.

Bob Strauss from Los Angeles Daily News writes, "Bardem plays Reiner, a large-living nightclub operator who's in on the Counselor's deal. Reiner is the polar opposite of taciturn, intimidating Chigurh (Bardem's character in "No Country for Old Men, another Cormac McCarthy novel/movie). Motormouthed and fundamentally insecure, self-styled cool guy Reiner has a wardrobe of crazy glasses and retina-scorching, vintage Versace print shirts. His mop of spiked hair screams out in all directions, again a complete contrast to Chigurh's deceptively bumpkinish bowl cut."

Bardem himself talked about his new character and about how he felt working on another McCarthy book-to-screen adaptation. He said, "I like McCarthy as an author. There are many things that he wrote that make points about many facts and layers of our society. Especially, also, as an actor, it's very like a gift to have those long scenes with those powerful dialogues to play."
