Corinth United Methodist Church Raises Funds For Haiti Missions Trip
The Corinth United Methodist Church is preparing for a trip to Haiti next spring that will see them help spread the gospel and help the needy.
They had a Christmas Shopper's Breakfast Saturday morning to smooth the progress of increasing funds for the upcoming trip.
The house of worship is expected to transport seven members of the congregation to the northern town of Anse a Foleur, Haiti.
When they arrive on the Caribbean island, they will teach Haitian children about the Gospel of Jesus Christ at the Bible study schools.
"We provide uniforms for kids to go to school. We provide the church that's there rent for their building. All sorts of various things that we do while we're there," said Corinth United Methodist Church Pastor Jim Proctor tp WCHS6.
In addition, The Methodist church assembly will arrange five nights of spiritual sermons in the town's square.
Furthermore, the church will also assist a Haitian dental clinic in order to do compassionate work overseas.
According to Pastor Proctor the trip will cost approximately $2,000 per person plus the money used to do humanitarian work in Haiti.
"Oh it's been wonderful," said Melissa Crooker who is very excited about going on the trip for the first time. "We didn't know with the weather whether we would get a lot of support, but we have and we're really thankful."
The Corinth church members from Maine will be united by 13 people from across America.
The missionaries are expected to visit Haiti from March 28th thru April 8th.
