Conan O'Brien Offends Christians with Skit Claiming Jesus Was Married: 'We Have Something Better Than A Scroll' (VIDEO)

Conan O'Brien aired a spoof on his talk show Tuesday night poking fun that latest controversy concerning whether or not Jesus had a wife. Conan stated, he found extremely rare proof and some Christians are not amused.

Last week the Harvard Theological Review reported that a papyrus fragment suggesting Jesus had a wife was real. O'Brien a Harvard graduate, who was raised Catholic stated on his show he'd found even more convincing proof.

"Ladies and gentlemen, we have something better than a scroll to prove Jesus was married," he said, introducing the bit.

"Don't ask us how, we actually have very rare footage... that's right footage of Jesus's domestic life," he added on the verge of bursting into laughter.

The video of Jesus' married life looked like a sitcom and showed a mock Jesus and "wife" arguing about house chores and his abilities.

Karen King is the Harvard professor of divinity that told the Associated Press the papyrus probably dates to eighth century Egypt. In the document, fragments of conversations written in the ancient Coptic language report that Jesus spoke of his "wife," according to the report.

The Catholic Church has denounced it as a fake. Christians believe that Jesus was unmarried and unlike Pastor who often chose to marry, Catholic priests have sworn to remain celibate as part of their vows for hundreds of years.

Non-the-less believers are unimpressed with the talk show hosts skit and took to the internet to voice it.

One comment read, "REALLY not amused. This is really offensive."

Another added it is just a "gnaw at Christians during this Holy Week."

Someone else said, "Calling Jesus's miracles "magic" is disrespectful?."

Was O'Brien just trying to be comical in light of the controversy or was this a stab at his Catholic faith? Sound off on the comments below.
