Colton Dixon [Update] “Making Positive Music”, Touring Philippines

Colton Dixon, "American Idol" season 11 finalist and shocking elimination, released in October his first single, "You Are" off upcoming, A Messenger, in stores January 29th. 4 more days! "You Are" reached number 1 on the iTunes Christian and Gospel singles chart within a week, has spent 13 weeks on the chart and currently at 21.
In the wake of two on campus school shootings in the last three months, Colton Dixon feels like the world, especially America needs to hear "positive" music. Inspirational rocker Dixon's "You Are" was released around the same time as Hurricane Sandy and feels like the lyrics can apply to the shootings as well.
"You are the light that's in the dark ... And when my circumstance leaves me with empty hands / You are the provider of my needs / When all my dirtiness has left me helpless / You are the rain that washes me."
He told Bulletin Entertainment:
"I am who I am and I'm not ashamed of that. But, of course, there are people pulling you [in] different directions and wanting you to do one thing but it wouldn't make sense to you to do that. I just wanna put out positive music. The truth of the matter is, we all need to hear it."
Dixon says the song is a confession that God is everything he needs and everything he doesn't already have.
"For me, it's you [God] are the song I'm singing, you're the air I'm breathing, you're the hope I'm needing. It's a chance that you get to connect with God and worship with me as it's in the song."
A Messenger will be available to the public January 29th. 4 more days!
