Colton Dixon and His Life Changing Year
Most people don't know that Tennessee native, Colton Dixon, born on October 19, 1991, tried out for Season 10 of American Idol with his sister, Schyler . They both sang at the Nashville auditions but neither reached the Top 24. The next year, Colton came back to the American Idol auditions initially only to support his sister. However, he was coaxed by the judges to audition himself, singing David Cook's song, "Permanent." Dixon and his sister were awarded golden tickets to advance, but Schyler's hopes were cut short again as she was cut in the Las Vegas round for the 2nd year in a row.
Colton Dixon went on to make the Top 10 and eventually to the Final 7. His elimination was a big surprise to everyone because he had never been in the bottom 3 at any point. However, he had already made his mark with the fans. His signature hair and voice had captured America's heart. Opportunities were lining up for the new Christian artist after he finished the American Idol tour and his career keeps reaching new heights to this day.
This past week Colton Dixon's single, "Never Gone", off of his debut album, A Messenger, hit #1 on the Itunes Christian charts. Conton Dixon has also gotten a sales boost from current American Idol contestant Angela "Angie" Miller performing his song, "Never Gone" on Idol this last week. This increased searches and mentions for Colton Dixon his music even more online.
Colton Dixon is being exposed to thousands of new fans a night performing on the The Miracle Tour with Third Day. The 45 city tour featuring openers Colton Dixon and special guest Josh Wilson has been selling out across the country exposing even more new fans to Colton Dixon's music. The Miracle Tour opened up in Fairfax,Va on Feb 21st and will continue through mid May.
