Cleveland Kidnap Victim Michelle Knight has a Book Deal: Woman Was Held By Ariel Castro for 11 Years

Michelle Knight promises to tell the "full story" in her book about her kidnapping and 11 year imprisonment by Cleveland resident Ariel Castro. Weinstein Books announced Monday that they would publish and distribute Knight's book about her time spent as a prisoner in Cleveland.

Knight told AP, "I want to give every victim of violence a new outlook on life. Victims need to know that no matter how hard it rains in the darkness, they will have the strength and courage that God gave them when they were born to rise above and overcome any obstacle that stands in their way."

Knight was kidnapped by Ariel Castro in her early twenties and was held for 11 years against her will. Knight was imprisoned along with Amanda Berry and Gina DeJesus and managed to escape with the two other women in May of 2013.

Knight went on to tell AP, "If you hold your head up high and have your feet firmly on the ground, you won't let hell consume or define how you feel inside. We shall define ourselves not as victims but as victors, and this will lead us to peace."

Ariel Castro, the man who kidnapped the three women and held them against their will, was sentenced to 1,000 years in prison for the kidnapping and sexual assault of the women. Castro was found hanging in his jail cell less than a month after his sentencing.
