Cleveland Browns NFL Latest News: QB Johnny Manziel Down With Injury, Brian Hoyer says 'I Want to Play'

It's no secret, the Cleveland Browns have faced a series of unfortunate events this season. In Berea, Ohio, the Browns prepare for Sunday's season finale, but rookie Connor Shaw needed to represent the injured first-string quarterbacks on Tuesday's practice. The two injured quarterbacks for the team are hoping for a quick recovery in time for the big game, but for Johnny Manziel, there's little chance of that.

Quarterback Johnny Manziel has been officially placed on Injured Reserve for the remainder of the season with his hamstring injury. Manziel has had limited action on the field, but even so, he attests that he is different from the Johnny Manziel that came to the Browns a year ago. "This is a job for me now and I have to take it a lot more seriously than maybe I did at first," Manziel said.

Quarterback Brian Hoyer isn't ready to give up yet. He was benched with a shoulder injury last Tuesday during practice. Fortunately, it is a light injury, but that still presents a danger to Hoyer. If he cannot heal by Sunday, Connor Shaw will start the game for him.

About the situation, Hoyer says, "I'm focusing on trying to get as healthy as I can... I look next to me - Jordan Cameron, Joe Thomas - I want to play for those guys." Hoyer explains that Sunday is the game that he is really focused on, and he is not concerned with the possibility that Sunday's finale could be his last game with the Cleveland Browns.

Coach Mike Pettine doesn't share Hoyer's optimism, although he appreciates the drive. When Hoyer attempted to throw Monday, his shoulder was giving him too much trouble.

Evidently, fans have fingers crossed for the Cleveland Browns as they wish them good luck up for Sunday's game!
