Cinderella 2015 Movie Release Date, Cast News: Lily James Plays Lead Role, Richard Madden as Prince Charming [TRAILER]
Disney just released the official trailer for its 2015 adaptation of the classic Cinderella story directed by Kenneth Branagh. According to MoviePilot.com, the story will remain faithful to the original plot, but will be narrated via Kit's perspective instead.
'Downton Abbey' star Lily James is playing the role of the young orphaned princess named Ella, while Richard Madden ('Game of Thrones') is Kit, also known as Prince Charming. 'Cinderella' earned impressive commentaries on the film's cinematography as shown from its preview during the Comic Con 2014 in San Diego.
"There is an interesting mix of tones at work, as heavy drama is lightened by some funny dialogue and rapport, and the film looks gorgeously shot. Of course, this is the footage that Disney wanted us to see in order to get us excited for the film, but my interest is definitely piqued," wrote Eric Eisenberg of Cinema Blend.
Other casts include Cate Blanchett as the wicked stepmother Lady Tremaine, Holliday Grainger and Sophie McSherra as Cinderella's stepsisters namely Anastacia and Drizella. Supporting characters also include Helena Bonham Carter as Fairy Godmother, Stellan Skarsgard as Grand Duke, Derek Jacobi as the King, Nonzo Anosie as Captain, and Hayley Atwell and Ben Chaplin as Cinderella's parents.
Producer Simon Kinberg said that 'Cinderella' touches the untold story of Ella portrayed in a modern and live-action way. "[Cinderella] is a great, iconic character, a character that I loved when I was a kid, and I loved the Disney animated movie," Kinberg told Hero Complex.
The movie version of 'Cinderella' will be shown on March 13, 2015 with screenplay by Aline Brosh McKenna and Chris Weitz and cinematography under Haris Zambarloukos.
