Christian Duo The Swon Brothers Make The Cut on The Voice Tonight on NBC (VIDEO)
Tonight on NBC was the third night of "live auditions" on the singing show "The Voice". Ratings for all four seasons (Season 4 is airing now) have given record numbers beating out singing tv show competitor "American Idol".
Last week, two Christian singers, Josiah Hawley and Kris Thomas made the cut past the "live auditions" to make it to the battle rounds.
Tonight Christian singers,The Swon Brothers, were on the show. They are brothers, Colton and Zach Swon from Muskogee,Ok. They grew up around music, parents were in a southern gospel group and played in several churches growing up. They performed the song "American Girl". About half way through their performance it looked like no judges might turn around. However, at the end of their performance both Shakira and Blake Shelton turned around. They had the funny line after they sang, they told the judges and audience, "you have just experienced your first 'swoncert'. Of course, they ended up going with fellow Oklahoman, Blake Shelton, to join his team.
Singers Usher and Shakira have filled the seats for original judges Cee Lo Green and Christina Aguilera for this season. The new judges will be joining returning stars Adam Levine of Maroon 5 and country music performer Blake Shelton. The host will continue to be Carson Daly, who has been hosting since the show began. New judges Usher and Shakira seemed to fit in well with Levine and Shelton. Blake Shelton might have been the least known name when the show started Season 1 but he has come to be one of the most endearing and popular judges. Shelton also has come away with the winning singer, 2 of 3 seasons so far.
The talent for "The Voice" has been strong every year and this year seems to be no different. Winner of last season (Season 3) Cassadee Pope has potential to be the shows first big breakout star with her album coming out and landing on spot on Rascal Flatts up coming tour. If Pope can reach sustained success that would open up doors to show that "The Voice" can be more then just great ratings but also produce stars with long careers.
