Christian Artist MercyMe Nominated for Billboard Award & K-Love Fan Award

Award-winning and multi-platinum Christian artist, MercyMe, have just been nominated by K-LOVE Fan Awards for Group of the Year and Artist of the Year for Nashvilles first annual K-LOVE awards celebration.

The K-LOVE awards are the first ever Christian fan choice awards, that are being held in Tennessee on May 31st -June 1st. The leading Christian radio network has a weekly listenership of 13 million people and will be holding the awards show at the famous historic Ryman auditorium.

Mercy Me has also just been nominated by Billboards music awards that are being held at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. The band was nominated in the category of Top Christian Artist and Top Christian Album (The Hurt & The Healer).

"We are honored to be recognized for the work we put into this last project, however, it cannot go without saying we don't do this alone. If we did anything worthy of praise it was all due to an incredible team of humble and extremely talented people who surround, encourage, and push us to be better. We and those who helped create this record hope it draws the listener further from their heart and closer to the healer." stated MercyMe's Mike Scheuchzer.

MercyMe's seventh studio album, The Hurt & The Healer, is a collection of lyrics that give insight and heartfelt meaning to the listener.

"We've been doing this for 17 years. You still need to have those moments where you are like, 'Oh I totally get it. I see something new'. That is what this album has been for us."

The bands title track set the bar high for the entire album, with the inspiration coming from a tragedy that happened to one the band members. Burt had a cousin die in a firefighting accident this past year in the line of duty. By watching his cousins children mourn the loss of their dad, the band was inspired to write about how you need God much more then we all think in tragedies as these.

The Hurt & The Healer ultimately became the foundation for the rest of the album. "We knew thing song needed to be the title of the album. It raised the bar for us because its hard to call an album "The Hurt & The Healer" and have a lot of light material, so it did challenge us to keep going down this road to whats important in our lives, the idea of redemption and restoration."

MercyMe will be showcased at the Billboard awards on May 19 on ABC.
