Chris Davis Hits 30 Home Runs / Orioles 1st Baseman Fresh Face For Steroid ERA of MLB
The last few years the game of baseball has been tainted by the rampant use of steroids, or PEDs. Finally in 2013, drug free, the MLB has a fresh new face for the long ball: Baltimore Orioles first basemen Chris Davis.
If somebody would've told Chris Davis during Spring training he'd have 30 home runs before July, he probably would've laughed. Not only is Davis's raw, natural, talent enough to win fans over, the slugger has a sense of modesty unmatched in professional sports.
Teammates and coaches commend his skills as much as his character, and firm grip on reality.
"Chris knows the distance from the outhouse to the penthouse," Buck Showalter, Davis' manager told the media. "He realizes that right now he's the flavor of the month.
Flavor of the month or rising superstar, Davis can hit anything: the curve, heat, pitches in the strike zone, along with balls well out.
For a home crowd against AL East rivals, the New York Yankees, Davis homered twice. His 29th and 30th home runs came in an 11-3 victory over the Yankees, who've lost 4 games in a row. Along with 30 home runs, Davis is hitting .333 on the season and matched a season high 5 RBIs in the victory.
With Davis' help, the Orioles now sit 2.5 games behind the division leading Boston Red Sox. Can Davis hit another 30 home runs and help the Orioles to their playoffs birth since 1997?
