The Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir Hits 40-Year Milestone for Ministry

The Dove and Grammy Award winning choir group, Brooklyn Tabernacle, has hit a very special milestone this week as it marks their 40th year of ministry within the church. The 280+ count of voices that make up this group are all untrained vocally and sing the notes of every song strictly by memory. The Brooklyn Tabernacle choir originally started in 1970 and consisted of only nine singers. It was not until the early 1980's that the pastors wife, Carol Cymbala, decided to make a recording of the choir for the congregation to take home. As the choir grew, Carol tried harder to find the right funds and equipment to make this album come to life. When money became a problem, the choir group stood up and began selling the pre-orders to their family and friends for the funds to roll in. The choir group raised enough money for them to be able to rent out a recording studio for just  one night where all the soundtracks, vocals, and solo peices were recorded. Since then, the choir has recorded three videos, three DVDs and numerous albums, winning five Dove Awards and six Grammy Awards. Their concert venues include Carnegie Hall, Radio City Music Hall, and the Madison Square Garden Theater.  The Choir has also had the honor of singing  at the Billy Graham Crusades that were held in New York City's Central Park .

Celebrating 40-years, the Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir has released a new radio single that is from their new album, Love Lead the Way. Their newest project makes 27-total complete albums that have derived from the amazing singing group. The soundtrack of Love Lead the Way is a inspiring 15-track album that testifies of hope and God's great love. The 15-track album includes a rendition from the old hymn, The Battle Hymn of the Republic, that was featured during the 2013 Presidential Inaguration. The choir has also just recently recorded a version of Big Daddy Weave's Redeemed. Carol stated that this particular song sounded like it was the perfect fit for her and the choir to record for their congregation. "I was in Nashville mixing the 'Love Lead The Way' album and heard the song on the radio, I wasn't familiar with it but it struck a chord with me. The song's message of redemption is relevant to us all and I felt it would be a wonderful song for the choir to record for our audience.". The Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir's album, Love Lead the Way and the Redeemed rendition are all available in stores today. To learnmore about the Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir, go here.
