Chelsea Transfer News, Rumors: Didier Drogba May Return? Paul Pogba to Join Chelsea
When Paul Pogba appeared in West London, just close to the Stamford Bridge, he gave rise to speculation that the French youngster might be joining Chelsea next season.
Ashley Clements wrote in the Daily Mail, "When a fan asked the French youngster if he would be signing for Jose Mourinho's side, Pogba chuckled."
Contradictory reactions resutled from fans as people met up with the powerful midfielder, Pogba. According to a recent report, the Frenchman's link to Chelsea keeps emerging. Oliver Todd of the Daily Mail reported that earlier, he was spotted playing Football Manager 2014 as the Blues.
A post in TweetChelsea FC read, "While reports shouldn't necessarily swell due to the aforementioned occurrences, he continues to be linked with tenure in the English capital. Although Manchester United are said to be in "pole position" when trying to re-sign their former talent, Chelsea appear very much in the running alongside Manchester City, as reported by L'Equipe (h/t Charles Reynolds of the Independent)."
Apart from Chelsea and Manchester City, it is reported that Real Madrid has also considered a move for the powerful youngster. Pogba would definitely contribute to the quality of any of the sides mentioned, but in the case of Chelsea, the French youngster would represent an interesting partner for the recently acquired Cesc Fabregas, who is ready to take charge of Mourinho's midfield when the new season begins.
Meanwhile, Simon Jones wrote in the Daily Mail that the potential arrival of Pogba at Chelsea could see him link up with the Ivorian footballer Didier Drogba, who is being touted to return to the club where he is considered a legend.
Jones writes, "The 36-year-old has interest from clubs in Qatar while Juventus continue to flirt with the idea of taking him to Turin. Yet Jose Mourinho has a strong relationship with the Ivorian and is interested in the idea of him taking on a player-coach role."
It is a well-known fact that Mourinho likes to rely on experienced professionals, and with Petr Cech's presence on the side, along with Drogba, Chelsea's younger players would surely feel some relieve from the pressure.
Earlier in March, Mourinho himself indicated that Drogba could return, saying, "I think it has to happen one day. When, I don't know-as a player, as a coach, as an ambassador-next year, in four or five years, in 10 years-I don't know."
