After being in a relationship since 2013, Charlize Theron and Sean Penn have decided to call it quits, according to a report from an insider made to People magazine.

The couple has nearly been inseparable since they got together, often spending time together with Theron's 3 year old son. The pair were last spotted together on the Cannes red carpet in May.

In recent weeks, however, they have not been spotted together anywhere at all.

According to sources, they stay under separate roofs.

Theron and her son remain in their Hollywood home, while Penn stays in his mansion in Malibu.

He had put said mansion up for sale, but suddenly pulled it off the market recently.

They also declined to attend at least one scheduled event together before Theron took off to London to film The Huntsman.

The stars' representatives have not made any comment on the split.

When she was not promoting her recent film, Mad Max, 39 year old Theron and 54 year old Penn, spent time out of the spotlight and enjoying time together as a family with Jackson on the French Riviera.

Penn was seen by himself in the Brentwood section of Los Angeles, buying cigarettes from a local newsstand.

Just last month, however, Theron spoke highly of her partner in an interview with British Elle, calling him the love of her life.

"Putting aside that he's my partner, he's the love of my life," said Theron. "For the first time, I felt that my work was really bleeding into my life, and that made it hard."

The two were first photographed together spending the new year together in Hawaii.
