Celine Dion Puts Career on Hold To Support Husband Rene Angelil's Battle With Cancer (VIDEO)
'My Heart Will Go On' singer Celine Dion announced that she will cancel her future tour in Asia in order to support her ailing husband Rene Angelil, who is battling throat cancer.
"I want to devote every ounce of my strength and energy to my husband's healing, and to do so, it's important for me to dedicate this time to him and to our children. I also want to apologize to all my fans everywhere, for inconveniencing them, and I thank them so much for their love and support," said Dion in a statement.
In December 2013, her hubby Rene Angelil had a tumor removed from his throat, and his recent battle with the disease has caused the devoted wife to cancel her much anticipated Asian tour, in addition to postponing her plans to officially become a Las Vegas resident.
Dion and husband/manager Angelil are parents to three children: René-Charles Angelil, Eddy and his twin brother Nelson, who was named after the late former South African President Nelson Mandela.
Four years ago, the Canadian singer appeared with her aforementioned newborn twin boys on the cover of the December 9, 2010 issue of the Canadian edition of Hello! magazine.
"It's been a very difficult and stressful time for the couple as they deal with the day-to-day challenges of fighting [Angélil's] disease while trying to juggle a very active show business schedule, and raise their three young children," said Dion's publicist, according to a ABC News report.
"Céline and family have requested that their privacy be respected at this time."
Dion recently released a duet song with R&B vocalist Ne-Yo titled "Incredible" a few months ago.
