'Castle' Season 7 Release Date, Spoilers: Beckett & Castle Fortify Relationship, Marlowe To Keep Fans 'Happy'
During a Television Critics Association Summer press tour this week, 'Castle' creator Andrew W. Marlowe and the series' new show-runner David Amann discussed the upcoming Season 7.
First off, fans began to worry that an executive change would affect the direction of the series. Initially, it was rumored that Marlowe would be leaving the show, but official statements quickly put a stop to that.
While, Marlowe is still part of the show's inner workings, his responsibilities on the program have significantly decreased. His wife and writer for Castle, Terri Edda Miller, reassured worried fans over Twitter, "For those expressing concern: @andrewmarlowe & I aren't leaving #Castle. Still here full time [for season seven]. Amann's just assuming more responsibility," Miller tweeted.
New show-runner David Amann also provided his insight on the matter, "Andrew and I have been working together since I arrived on the show five years ago," he said to TVLine, "He's still very much a part of the show and he's going to be very much involved. The vision is going to remain the same."
Concerning the upcoming Season 7, many fans were led to believe that the shocking and explosive cliff-hanger ending would turn out to have been a dream. However, "No, that's not what we're going to be saying," Amann said brushing off the idea
Marlowe explained, "And when the fans see what we are doing, they're going to be happy that it's not a dream," adding,"We did what we did for a reason - to open up some new mythology, to have some really fun storytelling coming up. Those fans who are less-than-thrilled should reserve judgment until they see the first few shots of the season."
As reported previously by various sources, the next installment will pick up right where the last season left off, with Beckett still in her wedding dress.
Amann had this to say about the future of Rick and Kate's budding romance on the show, "We are committed to their relationship as Castle and Beckett are - they are deeply in love and they have overcome a great many challenges already," he told TVLine, "So whatever [has happened] is not going to tear them apart. If anything, it will make them stronger."
Andrew W. Marlowe concluded with insight into the inner workings of 'Castle' and what fans can expect.
"A lot of questions are going to be raised, but the two of them are going to face those questions together," he mentioned, "We're not looking to significantly alter the trajectory of their relationship or pull the rug out from under the audience. We're looking to open up some really interesting aspects of storytelling for the Castle character, who hasn't really been as deeply explored as Beckett over the past six years - and we're really excited by that opportunity."
All Castle seasons have released between September 18 and September 25, barring the first season, so speculation rests that Season 7 will air around the same time this year.
