Carl Froch Next Fight Rumors, Date News: Fight vs Chavez Set for October 2014?
IBF super middleweight champion Carl Froch is on the rise, recently knocking out George Groves and defeating him for the second time in their bout at Wembley Stadium. Rumors have spread that Froch's next fight might be in Las Vegas against Julio Cesar Chavez Junior during the month of October.
The 36-year-old champion, otherwise called "The Cobra", aims higher after retaining his title and saying that his next fight should be in Vegas against a big name like Chavez, or he just may have to call it quits.
"I've not had my name up in lights in the fight capital of the world. All the greats have boxed there and for me not to do that, with all the things I've done in my career, would be a crying shame," said Froch to Mirror.co.uk.
Froch said that there's a strong chance that he will retire permanently, barring there's nothing special in store for him. "There has to be something special for me to want to put myself through another three months of pain," Froch said.
Froch's promoter Eddie Hearn would like to ensure the boxer's big fight before he retires. "He deserves a big night in Vegas and the Chavez fight," said Hearn.
Hearn has already discharged his efforts to make this a possibility. Apparently, Hearn is now dealing with Top Rank Promotions CEO Bob Arum whose company represents Chavez. "We went through all of the permutations and had conversations and we reviewed the revenue streams and so forth and he's going to be getting back to us," Arum said in World Boxing News.
Fans hope for an opportunity to stand witness to the legendary bout between the two later this year in October.
