Let's start with the Cardinals and Jake Westbrook on the mound. Westbrook [6-4, 2.88] is a little concerning with some of his numbers. Though the ERA is well below the MLB average, the numbers aren't really indicative of his performance, and should slump the second half of the season. This year Westbrook is walking more batters than he's striking out.

In July he's pitched 20 innings with 7 walks and just 3 strikeouts.

Still in home games Westbrook excels. In 35 and 1/3 innings Westbrook has given up only 3 earned runs with an ERA of 0.76, holding opponents to a .198 batting average.

A problem for him? A surging Phillies game is good at hitting in the meat of their lineup. They're suddenly in second place in the NL East.

Phillies lefty John Lannan [2-3, 3.76 ERA] is on the bump against Westbrook. It's been a bit of a tale of two seasons for Lannan this year. A guy that had his season cut short with arm injury last year has soared in his new home ballpark in Philadelphia. In his last 16 innings he only gave up one earned run.

Will the Cardinals continue to struggle against left handed pitching? Tune in for the St. Louis Cardinals against the Philadelphia Phillies at 8: 15 PM ET on PHL 17 and FS Midwest.
