The newly released, "Captain Phillips" movie about the Mearsk Alabama container ship that was  attacked by Somali pirates back in 2009,was an incredibly intense two-hour film. The movie began by following  Captain Phillips, (Tom Hanks),  on his journey to South Africa around the Cape Horn, as the container ship started doing saftey drills for simple precautions. Captain Phillips was very urgent to make sure that all doors, cavities, and stairwells were locked just in case of an emergency situation. Just as they began doing the drills, two sciffs (fishing boats) were fastly emerging the ship. Captain Phillips quickly pushed full speed ahead and continued to make the boats waves much higher so to make the sciffs motors give out. Successful, the first attempted pirate invasion was terminated. When all fears were gone the next day, one of the sciff boats came back determined to get aboard. "Captain Phillips"  quickly became a suspenseful, action packed movie that made viewers stand on the edge of their seat as they watched four Somali pirates take claim over the Mearsk Alabama. 

"Captain Phillips" was released among big movies this weekend such as; "Gravity", "Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2", and "Runner, Runner". Even with such movies, "Captain Phillips" ranked them all with having a 94% rating for its powerful acting and intense storyline. Rolling Stone critic, Peter Travers stated, " This is acting of the highest order in a movie that raises the bar on what a true-life action thriller can do.". " This is one of the years best movies and it features Tom Hanks strongest work in more than a decade. But its a live wire, time bomb of a film that, when it fianlly releases, leaves your nerves scrambled." stated Detroit News, Tom Long. "Captain Phillips" has already hit a total of  26 million dollars in its first weekend and is continuing to gain popularity.
