‘Captain America 3’ Movie News: Iron Man Tony Stark vs Steve Rogers, Marvel Film Mirrors Warner Bros. ‘Batman v Superman’?
New reports claim that Iron Man, played by Robert Downey Jr., will appear in the upcoming trilogy film to the 'Captain America' series when it premieres in May, 2016.
Variety reported on Monday that Downey Jr. was in discussions about his next movie, but it didn't involve 'Avengers' or even 'Iron Man'.
'The Judge' actor will supposedly suit up again in the upcoming installment, 'Captain America 3'.
Tony Stark will reportedly play a significant role in the movie as well. He and Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) will have very conflicting views in the film, when the storyline steps into the Marvel Civil War.
Civil War is a Marvel Universe crossover event that started in the summer of 2006 when a superhero named Speedball and his arch-nemesis named Nitro fought. The villain ended up killing several innocent bystanders, including children, and what's worse is that it had all been televised.
The event caused a public outcry and the proposal of the Superhero Registration Act came about. The act requires all superheroes to have a license in order to fight crime as well as reveal their secret identities and whereabouts.
This is where Iron Man and Captain America butt heads. The Cap doesn't agree with the act while Iron Man feels otherwise. This partition will end up in chaos as every superhero ends up choosing a side.
Meanwhile, not only will two famous superheroes clash in 2016, Business Insider reports that Warner Bros. will also release a superhero bout, 'Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice' which will air six weeks ahead of 'Captain America 3'.
Batman movies have garnered a strong following ever since the first serious film's debut in 1989 and has amassed billions of dollars since. ('The Dark Knight Rises' got a whopping $1.1 billion in box-office sales in 2012).
However, there are two reasons that Marvel will reportedly outshine DC here. One, audiences are allegedly more receptive to Tony Stark and Steve Rogers. Two, fans would go to see 'Captain America 3' not only as a sequel of 'The Winter Soldier', but as a sneak peek to the much awaited 'Iron Man 4' film everyone is talking about.
The intriguing battle between Captain America and Iron Man is an interesting storyline that will reportedly captivate a lot of audiences, according to Business Insider.
'Captain America 3' premieres on the big screen coming May 6, 2016.
