Candice Glover has the worst first week of sales of any American Idol winner ever. Comes in behind Lee Dewyze and Jordin Sparks
Candice Glover experienced the worst week of first-week sales of any American Idol winner to date. It would be hard to duplicate the success of Phillip Phillips hit, "Home", but she didn't come close. Phillips single was downloaded 278,000 times in his first week after winning Season 11. But the biggest push for the single was when it was used as the theme song for the Olympics.
No one expected that Idol winner Candice Glover's first single, "I Am Beautiful," would reach "Home", but according to americanidolnet.com, it's done a lot worse than that.
There were only 54,000 downloads of "I Am Beautiful" this week. Things haven't been much better for runner-up Kree Harrison. Her single "All Cried Out" is only registering about 24,000 downloads. In comparing the first week of sales of all the Idol winners, Candice comes in last place:
1) Ruben Studdard, "Flying Without Wings" - 286,000
2) Phillip Phillips, "Home" - 278,000
3) David Cook, "The Time of My Life" - 236,024
4) Kelly Clarkson, "A Moment Like This" - 236,000
5) Taylor Hicks, "Do I Make You Proud" - 190,147
6) Scotty McCreery, "I Love You This Big" - 171,404
7) Fantasia Barrino, "I Believe" - 142,141
8) Kris Allen, "No Boundaries" - 134,458
9) Carrie Underwood, "Inside Your Heaven" - 131,504
10) Lee Dewyze, "Beautiful Day" - 95,000
11) Jordin Sparks, "This Is My Now" - 74,303
12) Candice Glover, "I Am Beautiful" - 54,000
No one's really sure why the single is tanking. Maybe it's just a bad song, we don't know. But honestly, America (even though they love Candice) connected more with Angie Miller's music. It'll be interesting to see how the Idol top 3 shakes out.
