Candice Glover on "American Idol" 2013 Judges, Weight and "Churchy" Marketability / Single "I Am Beautiful" Worst Sales of Season 12 Top 3 [VIDEO]
American Idol 2013 Season 12 winner, Candice Glover has already released the first single, "I Am Beautiful" and is currently in the studio recording her debut album.
Though Candice Glover's first single "I Am Beautiful" promotes self-confidence and pride with lyrics like: "It don't matter that I'm not perfect / I am beautiful" and "I'm worth every tear / And every scar", the Season 12 winner admits she was a little confused with some of the comments from the Idol 2013 judges after her performances. Glover admits she never understood how to be more "marketable."
"It kind of hurt my feelings when I would hear them say like, 'Oh my gosh. You're so current. I could hear you on the radio today' and then they'd tell me my vocals are cool, but what does marketable mean? What do I need to do? Do I need to lose weight? Should I wear my hair a different way?" Candice Glover confessed in a recent interview.
Even after America continued to vote Candice Glover through week after week, the American Idol judges repeatedly advised the singer to tone down the "churchy" vocals if she still wanted to remain contemporary.
Maybe the Idol judges were right about Candice's "marketability" woes. Out of the Top 3 finalists, Candice Glover had the worst sales the first week after "I Am Beautiful" was released on iTunes. Angie Miller's "You Set Me Free" and Kree Harrison's "All Cried Out" dominated Glover's sales.
Do you think the American Idol judges were right about Candice Glover's lack of marketability?
