The Butler released this weekend and became king of the box office in the U.S.

The Butler brought in $25 million to come in at No. 1 with We're the Millers starring Jennifer Aniston and Jason Sudeikis coming in No. 2 for the weekend at $17.7 million.

The movie stars Forest Whitaker as Cecil Gaines, a butler who works under eight Presidents in the White House and is based around civil rights history through those years. While Gaines is working at the White House, he witnesses the presidential discussions surrounding the civil rights issues while his son Louis is directly affected by many of the struggles.

Oprah Winfrey co-stars in the movie as Gloria Gaines, Cecil's wife. This is Oprah's first movie appearance in 10 years and with the strong opening weekend looks to have a good long run ahead in theaters. The Butler is an early projection for Oscar awards.

Before the official release of the film, critics gave The Butler very good reviews which helped encourage people to give it a shot in the theaters.

The movie is based off the true story of Eugene Allen and his 34-year tenure serving at a White House butler.

The movie was written by Danny Strong and directed by Lee Daniels.

We will see this weekend if The Butler can stay No. 1 for it's second weekend in a row.
