Busy Time for Legendary Vocalist John Schlitt On Heels of The Christmas Project Release
With his new CD, The ChristmasProject, officially released on November 19, Grammy and Dove Award winning vocalist John Schlitt has been as busy as one of Santa's elves with TV tapings, interviews and two singles released to Christian radio. Schlitt's arrangement of "The Hallelujah Chorus" from Handel's "Messiah" currently is playing at Rock and CHR-formatted stations; "That Spirit ofChristmas," a ballad made famous by Ray Charles, is playing at AC-formattedstations.
Schlitt recently returned from Cornerstone Television Network in Pittsburgh, Pa., where he taped more than a dozen performances, which are slated to air throughout the month of December. Three of Schlitt's songs will air during Cornerstone's New Year's Eve TV Special.
The veteran entertainer is scheduled to appear on Trinity Broadcasting Network's Praise The Lord Nashville Christmas Special on December 9 and will shoot a music video for "Little Drummer Boy" on location in Tennessee with the award-winning Saylors Brothers (Israel & New Breed: Live From Another Level Concert DVD), which fans can expect in time for the holiday season.
The Christmas Project is already garnering rave reviews.
"John Schlitt's first Christmas offering is the picture of a success," saysNewReleaseTuesday. "It offers rocking covers of classic carols, a solid original, and a revitalized take on a lesser-known classic. It keeps the listener engaged with cinematic and nostalgic musical directions, and never veers off into filler. And most importantly, it keeps Christ the focus throughout. ...Whether you're a fan of his past work or not, this is definitely aChristmas release worth your ears this Christmas season, and Christmas seasons to come."
