BUDGET FRIENDLY SUMMER 2013 WEDDING TIPS

Its summer time which means wedding season is in full swing, and with August right around the corner, some brides are scrounging to make their wish list into reality. Here are some fun tips to make your day happen on a tight budget, without compromising the butterflies or big dreams.  MUSIC: If you are a family of faith, consider asking the youth band or local church members to perform at your wedding. Although you may have only heard them play worship music in service, chances are they got their start in jam bands, and would love the opportunity to play some fun music at your reception.  Also, consider making a playlist on Pandora. A few weeks before the weekend, starting out my picking your favorite band, and make a new station. As you continue to research, add bands to that playlist. You'll end up with some fun surprises and familiar songs. Buy (or register for) a mini blue tooth speaker, like Beats by Dre's "Beats Pill" that packs a punch. You'll be able to project the music if it outdoors, and have a great take-home present that you can use after the wedding day on family outings. It'll end up saving your from hiring out entertainment that you won't be able to use again later.    FOOD: Consider having a pot-luck dessert table. To avoid the taboo behind pot-lucks, put your head together with your husband and come up with 10 important ladies or cooks in your family. Ask the ten to make their speciality cake or dessert, and bring it the day before. Dress up all of the food in a unified display, and you save tons of cash on dessert. The best thing is, special members of your family and special friends end up feeling honored that they got to make their famous blue berry cobbler for the big day, and its a great way to give nods and include special friends. Make little chalkboard signs for each dish (since you will know beforehand) and it won't look like a potluck, but like a beautiful blend of family recipes.    VENUE: Weddings are not excluded to churches anymore, and trending right now is finding a unique wedding venue that is unpredictable and exciting. A lot of venues end up being free, or cheap and can save you thousands of dollars from the tradition banquet hall. Consider picking a state park, a youth camp, a friend's farmland, or even somewhere inventive, like renting out the top of a parking garage for the day.
