Brian the Dog Dies in Latest Family Guy Episode

Seth MacFarlane and company finally killed off a main character in the popular TV show "Family Guy." Brian the dog had his last episode on the animated comedy last night when he got run over by a car in the street. Many fans are wondering why they decided to kill Brian Griffin in last night's episode. Critics have a number of opinions on why Brian got the axe.

One of the main reasons why the producers decided to follow through with Brian's death is that they wanted to shake things up in the show. Steve Callaghan, one of the producers for "Family Guy," told E! News, "This was an idea that got pitched in the writers' room, and it sort of caught fire, and we thought it could be a fun way to shake things up. We started talking about what the next couple episodes could be and we got very excited about the way this change will affect the family dynamics and the characters."

Rumors have it that there will be a new Griffin family dog on the show voiced by "Sopranos" actor Tony Sirico. The new dog's name is Vinny. Callaghan said, "By losing Brian, it felt like a void needed to be filled, both comically and also for the interpersonal relationships between all the characters. We felt that we needed to fill that role."
