Belo Horizonte, well known among one and all right now for being host to the FIFA 2014 World Cup, became the site of a massive bridge collapse recently.

An overpass which was currently under construction collapsed near the World Cup stadium killing two people and injuring as many as nineteen people.

It was on the main avenue of the city that the collapse had taken place.

The overpass was being created as a part of expansion activities that have been commissioned for the World Cup 2014. The project was not finished by the time the World Cup started.

The Mineiro stadium where the World Cup matches are being hosted is about three miles away from the overpass.

Among the casualties, no tourists have been revealed as the victims so far. This results in a new headache for the Brazilian Government in the midst of running a supremely important international event.
