Dr. Brantly and Nancy Writebol are two Americans currently being treated in Atlanta, Georgia after being infected the Ebola virus in the African nation of Liberia.

Prior to being infected with the deadly virus, Dr. Brantly worked as the medical director for the Samaritan's Purse Ebola Consolidated Case Management Center located in Monrovia, Liberia, while Writebol was a volunteer for Serving in Mission who was also employed in the Case Management Center.

After being stricken by the Ebola virus in the aforementioned African country, Brantley decided to give Writebol the sole tentative antidote instead of himself.

"The United States and our international partners will continue to do whatever we can to help our African partners respond to this crisis and stand with the people of Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone," said President Obama in a statement.

Dr. Brantly's wife issued the following remark after her husband and Nancy Writebol recently arrived in America in order to receive additional treatment: "I have been able to see Kent every day, and he continues to improve, I am thankful for the professionalism and kindness of Dr. Ribner and his team at Emory University Hospital. I know that Kent is receiving the very best medical treatment available," said wife Amber in a statement on August 5.

"I am also thrilled to see that Nancy arrived safely in Atlanta today. Our families are united in our faith in Jesus, and we will walk through this recovery time together. Please continue to pray for Kent, Nancy, and the people of Liberia," she concluded.
