The 'Bourne' movie franchise has recently stepped into the spotlight again, as the production team has announced they they've hired a new screenwriter for a 'Bourne 5' film. Additionally, fans have been requesting that actor Matt Damon return as Jason Bourne, since reports suggest that Jeremy Renner did receive the greatest reception after playing the part.

While the production team is hoping the hype up the series again with a new perspective from the screenwriter, some find that it's a lost cause after Jeremy Renner's lackluster reception. Again, fans are looking to see Damon back on the big screen, but Executive Producer Frank Marshall says the Matt Damon era is over.

When asked about Matt Damon's return to the role of Jason Bourne for the fifth installment, Marshall said, "It's simply not true," he told Hollywood Reporter.

On a side note, Anthony Peckham has recently been hired to contributed as a scriptwriter for the next movie. He's known for writing scripts for 'Invictus' and the first 'Sherlock Holmes' film, which starred Robert Downey Jr.

It seems like the production is slowly preparing for the next Bourne film with their recent strategic moves. While the plot of the film is still unknown, they did announce that the film's release will be moved from August 14, 2015 to July 15, 2016. Another delay which fans hope would be for the betterment of the film.

Marshall announced to the Hollywood Reporter, "I talk to Justin all the time and the script is not ready. It's a summer movie, and if we don't start pre-production now, we can't make next summer. Therefore, it's a wise decision to move to 2016." he said.
