Borussia Dortmund battles Zenit St Petersburg this afternoon, having a two goal advantage over their opponents from Russia, in addition to scoring four away goals.
Goals from Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Marco Reus and two from Robert Lewandowski, in between goals from Oleg Shatov and Hulk, gave Jurgen Klopp's team the win in the Petrovosky Stadium in the first leg, and puts them in a strong position to clinch the German team's entry to their second straight quarter-final berth.
If Zenit have any apspirations of advancing then they must go to the Westfalenstadion and win by at least three goals without giving up any other goals, with Bayern Munich being the lone team to have achieved that remarkable feat so far this season.
Today's game will be only the second time these two teams have played against each other in a competitive match and they both come into the game following weekend losses. Dortmund were defeated 2-1 at home in the Bundesliga by Borussia Monchengladbach, while Zenit lost 1-0 to CSKA Moscow in the Russian Premier League.
Dortmund is still missing their star central midfielder Ilkay Gundogan due to back injury, as well as other players such as Neven Subotic and Jakub Blaszczykowski. In addition, Sven Bender also has a groin injury.
Zenit has an opportunity to clinch the title, since they only trail by 3 points to Lokomotiv Moscow. Their main injury concerns are ex-Arsenal attacker Andrei Arshavin who has a thigh injury and Argentinian right-back Cristian Ansaldi.
Today's match against Borussia Dortmund will be challenge for St Petersburg, but Zenit's new manager, the ex-Tottenham Hotspur manager Andre Villas-Boas looks to get a victory versus Dortmund this afternoon. If Zenit do not learn from the first leg's mistakes then it will be a rough afternoon for the Russian squad.
