'Borderlands 3' Release Date News: Gearbox CEO Talks Game Needs Developers; Available On PS4 In May

In line with Gearbox's "Borderlands 3," it has been revealed that the company is set to hire people for the development team while studio CEO Randy Pitchford talks how the "Borderlands" film will affect the game franchise.

"Borderlands 3" is set to see progress soon, according to Pitchford. He tweeted that Gearbox was looking for new team members for the next title.

Accordin to Ecumenical News, it is assumed that Pitchford's revelation has surprised "Borderlands" fans, since Gearbox is also aiming to release its latest IP project called "Battleborn" in May. As per the publication, this suggests that the workforce behind the company's projects might be divided into two, in order to accommodate both IPs. Thus, there might be a specific set of developing team for "Borderlands 3" and another for "Battleborn."

Pitchford also shared his thoughts about his excitement for the "Borderlands" film project. In his interview with Games Industry, the CEO said that it was not secret that they had done an agreement with Lionsgate and Arad Productions to have "Borderlands" film. He also mentioned that that was definitely an interesting angle, adding that they would see what happened there.

Gearbox's CEO also mentioned that Ari Arad and Avi Arad were great, with the latter wanting to be the guy to figure out how to make good video game films. Pitchford also said that fortunately, the Arads had figured it out when Avi had been doing Marvel and had done "Spider-Man," "X-Men," and "Iron Man." He had figured out how to make comic book films that were really fun, engaging, and amusing for large audiences.

For Pitchford, he was hopeful that working with the Arads could help them come up with a good film. At this point, the Arads are set to produce the film and exact details on the characters, cast, and plot are yet to be revealed.

Meanwhile, "Borderlands 3" is set to be released for the PS4 on May 3.
