Boardwalk Empire Season 5 Spoilers, Plot Rumors: Nucky Seeks New Alliances Post Prohibition & Early Great Depression

The fifth and final season for HBO's hit series, 'Boardwalk Empire', premiered September 7 and the show promises enormous surprises for its loyal fans. According to reports, the show's Season 5 will be mainly set in the year 1931, a jump from its previous seasons' 1920's setting.

The show's creators are going to close out the popular series with a spin on the previous season plots. This time around, they're going to incorporate the Great depression and the end of Prohibition as part the show's timeline.

Flashbacks from the 1880's will reportedly be seen throughout 'Boardwalk Empire' Season 5, where they plan to show the life of the show's main character, Nucky Thompson (portrayed by Steve Buscemi), when he was his younger self.

The forthcoming 'Boardwalk Empire' final season promises many turns of events as Nucky will reportedly be seeking new alliances with liquor producers in hopes of expanding his empire, but will be facing challenges as his competitors, Lucky Luciano (played by Vincent Piazza) and Meyer Lansky (portrayed by Anatol Yusef) will be joining arms in an attempt to dominate shortly after the death of Arnold Rothstein.

Nucky's tough rivals will reportedly be doing everything in their power to achieve their goal of eliminating their competition.

'Boardwalk Empire' will also be introducing a new character, an American lawyer named Robert Hodge who will reportedly be a recurring guest character during the show's entire fifth season.

As a new character steps in, an old one will reportedly step out. Reports claim that one of the show's main characters awaits an impending death in 'Boardwalk Empire' Season 5, possibly from an assassination.

The show's fifth and final season will run on a total of eight episodes, the last of which is entitled "Eldorado."
