The red hot Toronto Blue Jays will send Esmil Rogers (3-2, 3.14 ERA) to the mound to counter Rays pitcher Jeremy Hellickson (5-3, 5.50 ERA).

Talk about a team who was written off for dead, the Blue Jays have rallied to win 11 straight, putting them only 5 games behind the Boston Red Sox in the AL East. Blue Jays starter Esmil Rogers has been tremendous his last three starts, with a WHIP under 1 and only allowing 12 hits in 17 innings. The success has been contagious, not only for the Blue Jays starting rotation, but also the bullpen, who have posted .63 ERA during the 11 game streak.

The bats are clearly part of the equation, beating the Orioles 13-5 on Sunday. Edwin Encarnacion homered once and hit in 4 RBIs in the win, and is third in the American League in total RBIs.

For whatever reason, when Hellickson is on the mound for the Rays, he gets run support. Yet his ERA is over 5. Many times we look at a pitcher whose numbers are bloated because of the opposite. Hellickson has had an opportunity to post great numbers this year but is not taking advantage of them. With Alex Cobb out for an undetermined amount of time, and an erratic Matt Moore, the Rays need Hellickson to step up into that no. 3 pitching spot.

Tune in for what could be a division shaping series between AL East rivals, the Toronto Blue Jays and Tampa Bay Rays tonight at 7:10 PM ET.
